Week Two (Days 8-14)
DEVELOPMENT OF THE PUPPIES
+ Eyes should open around days 8-10
+ Ears should open around days 13-17
+ Temperatures should be around 97-99F
CARE OF THE PUPPIES
+ Keep whelping box around 80-83F
+ Begin holding puppies in different ways (applying light
stress)
+ Trim nails weekly
One has opened his eyes at 10 days!! What a star!
They use the protection rails which are in case Saf lies on them, as head rests, or props to get at Saf!
They are trying to walk around the whelping box, and are getting better each day, but they are not quite there yet. Still it doesn't stop them from racing around the whelping box when they want to.
They are very mobile now and seem to be camera shy, turning their heads away at the last moment. In light of that, I did some videos.
Here there just milling around biding time before Saf comes back!
This is attack of the birds, every time the pups get Saffies scent they go mad! Even climbing out the whelping box to find her!
The puppies now get their nails trimmed and coats brushed twice a week, when their asleep of course! The easiest time!
